It’s my Birthday!

As I’ve gotten older, birthdays have become much more important to me. As children, we spent so much time celebrating our special day, but we tend to grow out of it. Not because it becomes less special but because society says it’s selfish to celebrate ourselves. It took awhile, but I’ve realized what a gift getting older is. It’s never guaranteed, and with age comes more wisdom and life experiences that should be absolutely celebrated.

It doesn’t have to be fancy or lavish. I got breakfast out with my husband, then we went to a coffee shop to read. We took the dogs on a nice, long walk. Now, I’m getting my writing done for the day (usually this comes first, but sometimes things need to move around). Later, I’ll work out, browse at the bookstore, and then get dinner with my family at Torchy’s Tacos.

Just do something for you on your birthday if you can. You’re worth celebrating!
