Physical books read in January: Crescent City 1 and 2, Divine Rivals, Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, and Sun Seekers.

January Reads and Reviews

January was quite the reading month for me! I’ve had significantly more free time than usual due to layoffs, so I’ve been taking advantage of the time to do things that fill my cup, which include reading! This month, I’m planning to focus more on writing my own book, so probably won’t get quite as many books in for February. But January was absolutely delightful.

  1. House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City 1) by Sarah J. Maas. Physical book.
  2. House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City 2) by Sarah J. Maas. Physical book.
  3. Persuasion by Jane Austen. Audiobook.
  4. The Stone Sky (Broken Earth 3) by NK Jemisin. Kindle.
  5. Sun Seekers by Rachel McRady. Physical book.
  6. Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland. Physical book.
  7. Serendipity Mindset by Christian Busch, PhD. Audiobook.
  8. Room for Improvement by Jessica Gregory. Kindle.
  9. Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Physical book.
  10. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross. Physical book.
  11. Spellmaker by Charlie N. Holmberg. Audiobook.

Truly a great month of reading!

My top picks from January?

Crescent City 1 and 2. Really anything by Sarah J. Maas. While I’ve loved all three of her series, Crescent City is my absolute favorite (followed by ToG, then ACOTAR). Reading CC3 in February! The wonderful thing about her books are the incredible friendships and character development, the strength and resilience of everyday people, and the power of the arts. Just beautiful.

Divine Rivals. This book pulled me in immediately and left me completely shattered at the end. Looking forward to reading the sequel in February!

Sun Seekers. One of my oldest friend’s debut novel! She did such an incredible job showcasing family trauma and the different ways people work through it seen through the eyes of a child.

Spellmaker, but also anything by Charlie N. Holmberg. One of my favorite novelists! I love all the cozy, mystery-laden fantasy. Spellmaker is the second book in a series and I actually enjoyed this one more than the first (though obviously like the first enough to read the second).

Cheers to another month of happy reading ahead!
